20% discount on BSNL Broadband for Government Employees
Promotional Scheme of Broadband for Government Employees.
In order to boost the acquisition and usage of Broadband among government employees, the competent authority has approved 20% discount on Broadband Service charges (usage and rental) for Broadband connections provided to Central Government/ State Government/ PSU Employees category. The scheme is to be launched from 1st December 2008 across BSNL network and is a continuous scheme.
The serving and retired government employees applying for Broadband connection under this scheme, should furnish an undertaking countersigned by their Drawing and Disbursing Officer regarding their bonafide along with the application. In case of retired employees, an attested copy of the Pension Pay Order should be submitted along with the application. The application should be marked as “FOR GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES SCHEMEâ€.
The scheme is also applicable to existing Broadband customers who are serving/retired government employees subject to their furnishing an undertaking as detailed above. The discount of 20% in Broadband Service charges for the existing customers will also be applicable if they apply, from the month of such application.
You are requested to kindly give widespread publicity to this scheme through messages in local TV channels, telephone bills, broadcasting SMS, IVRS etc in addition to print and electronic media so as to push the services.

Sounds good.. The 500 Rs plan would now become 400.. There are also speculations of BSNL rolling out 256k-2M Unlimited plans for just 570(not official yet)

I am a retired Public Sector Undertaking, ie, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. I retired on the 31st august 1993. At that time, the retirement age was 50, and there was NO PENSION SCHEME. As such I cannot give any Pension details.
Am I eligible for the 20 % discount.

I started getting the discount in the bill of sept-oct 09.What i could gather from the pdf file posted on this blog about the offer is that i should have got the discount starting from april itself. So now i need to understand that how should i pressurize the officials of bsnl to consider giving the discount starting from april 09.
Any help in this regard would be welcome.

Hi guys, this plan is tricky n of no use …for instance: if u have 500 plan and say u got download charges of 3000rs or something they only reduce 20% of plan rate i.e rs100 n rest of the charges u have to pay….i thought they would give 20% reduction of the whole bill amount but its not so….it sucks …

Can the 20% scheme be coupled with the annual scheme ( ie BSNL gives a discount of 2 months when enrolled for a year). Am in 256Mbs/Rs 750 unlimited.

previously my usage limit was 1536mb exceeding which 80paise/mb is charged after the discount does my usage limit increase to 1843mb …… ……. …… ? (reply)

recently i had a broadband connection with unlimited home plan . when i have applied for connection i was told by officers attaining in customer care that being professor in a college run on grant in aid basis. the college is run by public charitable trust and regulated by laws laid by state and central government . the law teachers involved in law teaching are entitled to get benefit as compare to employees of state and central government and psu. the officers must be directed to give appropriate & correct information about schemes.

Yes. If your dad is a govt employee, you can avail the discount. Just goto the nearest BSNL office and ask for the application form.
