Facebook pushing efforts to ‘Go Green’
Facebook was in the new last December when it partnered with Greenpeace for using renewable and sustainable sources of energy to power its mammoth server farms. Remember the Un-Friend Coal campaign by Greenpeace? Greenpeace has targeted Facebook about 20 months before FB announced its decision to use clean energy.
According to the Facebook statement:
Facebook is committed to supporting the development of clean and renewable sources of energy, and our goal is to power all of our operations with clean and renewable energy. Building on our leadership in energy efficiency (through the Open Compute Project), we are working in partnership with Greenpeace and others to create a world that is highly efficient and powered by clean and renewable energy.

Here are some domains recently acquired by the Social Networking giant (speculated):
- FacebookCleanEnergy.org
- FacebookSocialEneergy.org
- SustainableFacebook.net
- Facebooksustainaibility.net
There have been reports that around 15 such domain names were registered over a short span of time, leading to the doubt that it was indeed Facebook which has purchased the domains, although we cant completely rule out the possibility of domain name parking.
